About this blog
Dedicated to helping self-employed management consultants be successful, this blog is based on a premise: to be prosperous you must be not just an excellent consultant but also a savvy business owner. Content focuses on these topics:
Being a better consultant
Being a business
Marketing and business development
Money and profit: earn more, keep more!
My blog posts are aimed to inspire you to think big picture and push yourself to be the best that you can be. I promise to write with your best interests in mind and to think from your viewpoint because, as the saying goes, I've walked a mile in your shoes. That means expect practical advice and meaningful insight based on my long experience.
More about me
I'm the founder and CEO of PrōKo Consulting, which represents professional independent consultants on projects with Fortune 500 clients. PrōKo's business model is similar to how Creative Artists Agency represents top actors in Hollywood.
In building the business during the last nine years, I've interviewed scores of consultants. For those my company selects to represent, I coach them on personal branding, promotion, and positioning. I also often advise people on the pros and cons of becoming a “free agent” or self-employed, a step I successfully took about 15 years ago.
Since starting this blog, I have also launched the Professional Independent Consultants of America (PICA), a national organization that provides education, tools, templates, and advice for self-employed professionals. There is a lot more content on PICA’s site so I encourage you to check it out.
Before launching PrōKo, this blog, or PICA, I was a management consultant including 5 years with PwC Consulting and 15 years serving Fortune 500 clients such as Intuit, Clorox, Levi Strauss, NetApp, and Franklin Templeton Investments.
I have an MBA from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California and I live in San Francisco. When not working I enjoy traveling, skiing, golfing, flying, and riding my Ducati motorcycle.
Be your best,
